Kansas City Ice Center is a state-of-the-art ice sports facility that offers outstanding service and programs for youth through adult. We are the only rink in Johnson County---located conveniently just 2 miles west of I-435 on Johnson Drive in Shawnee. We are home to the two largest figure skating clubs and the largest youth hockey association in the State of Kansas. We offer Learn to Skate and Learn to Play Hockey programs for all ages, public skate sessions, birthday parties, and fun for the entire family.
Our facility itself has just undergone a $1 million dollar renovation. Our arena now features an all new ice rink floor and ice surface, new boards and glass, new dehumidification system, improved ice rink refrigeration system, refurbished interior rink walls, new rink and lobby lighting, renovated locker rooms, refurbished bleacher seating, new concession area and improved menu, a full bar serving spirits and bottled and draft beer, a freshly painted lobby, a parent’s lounge, and refurbished lobby bathrooms.
It is our goal to offer the finest facility, housing the best programs, with the most knowledgeable, helpful, and courteous staff. We hope that every visit to KCIC will be a fun and enjoyable experience for the entire family.
KCIC features a staff of leading professionals in both skating and hockey. Our Skating Coordinator is Jenny Hutchins. Jenny has been skating for 16 years, coaching for 5 years, has competed in the Midwest and has background in competition, choreography, and dance. Jenny has directed many ice shows and co-coaches a performance skating team. Jenny has a Dance Degree from the University of Kansas, and a Physical Therapist Assistant Degree from Washburn University and has been our coordinator at KCIC for since 2008.
Our Hockey Director is Larry Pedrie. Larry has been coaching hockey for over 30 years, is a former Div. I college hockey coach, and has been coaching youth hockey since 1996.
Our additional ice instructors are all experienced, highly motivated, and believe in offering a fun, enjoyable and educational experience for all skaters/players.
