GUADALAJARA CAFE
Guadalajara Café is a well established Kansas City restaurant and features a
unique approach to Mexican cuisine. Offered at two locations in Kansas City
and Lee's Summit, Guadalajara has prided itself on raising the bar on what
to expect from Mexican cuisine. The menu shies away from the offerings of
typical Mexican Restaurants and favors authentic flavors you would expect to
find simmering in a family cocina. They feature dishes of pollo, carne
asada, peppers, tacos, and more. Diners start their stomachs humming with
the café's selection of entremeses (small dishes), including a pair of
tamales ($6.99), Quesadillas de Flor de Calabaza, squash blossom sautéed in
seasonings and served in a grilled tortilla ($9.49), etc. Several chicken
dishes offer options such as the Pollo al Chipotle, nuggets of chicken
breast and vegetables cooked up in chipotle cream ($12.99). Served with rice
and beans, the Pork Chile Verde burrito ($10.49) or other burrito/taco
options satisfy appetites before they get too big for your belly, and more
than 9 fresh seafood dishes offer a variety of shrimp to tantalize your
taste buds.
The chefs at Guadalajara Café attended culinary training in Guadalajara,
where they developed a special appreciation for the cuisine of Jalisco, a
region that extends from central Mexico to the Pacific coast. They even
spice up this Jalisciense style of cooking with exotic ingredients such as
squash blossoms, nopal cactus, and shrimp sautéed in a unique cream chipotle
sauce to create dishes reminiscent of those first envisioned by the Aztecs.
The result of their dedication to tradition is a menu of central Mexican
classics such as chilies rellenos drizzled in spicy tomatillo sauce,
hand-rolled tamales, and tacos filled with charbroiled, citrus-marinated
meats. Diners can wash down these authentic morsels with a selection of
Mexican beers or tequilas infused with jalapeno, cilantro, and tamarind.
The Lee's Summit location opened in November 2011, inviting customers in
with its' unparalleled charm of brickwork, high ceilings and a gleaming bar.
Both locations offer the freshest ingredients, premium tequilas and the
